Lars Persson haver friat till mig,  allt uti dessa dagar.
Lars Persson asked me to marry him, one of these days.

Men storligen bedrager han sig,  om han tror han mig behagar!
But he deceives himself greatly, if he thinks I fancy him!

Han hade ko, han hade get,     han hade stuga, han hade vret.
He owns a cow, he owns a goat, he owns a cottage with fields.

Han hade so, trinder och fet,  han hade båt och nät.
He owns a sow, plump and fat,  he owns a boat and a fishing-net.

Tror han, han får mig, lurar han sig.          Men han har så fagra ögon.
If he thinks he will get me, he fools himself. But his eyes are so pretty!
