Gläd dig, du Kristi brud,
Rejoice,  you bride of Christ,

och möt din Herre Gud.
and meet your God, the Lord.

Den stora dag du skådat
You have beholden the grand day

som de profeter bådat.
that was heralded by the prophets.

Hosianna! Pris och ära!
Hosanna!  Praise and glory!

Vår konung vi hembära.
We now bring our King home.



En krona han ej bär,
He does not wear a crown,

men dock en konung är.
(but) yet he is a king.

Hans prakt   är ganska ringa.
His grandeur is (quite) humble.

Dock kan han döden tvinga.
Yet, he can  subdue Death (itself).

Hosianna!...
Hosanna!...



Saktmodig, mild och god,
Gentle, lenient, and kind,

han ger de svaga mod.
he gives courage to the timid ones.

Han sällhet har att föra,
He has bliss to give (away),

som skall hans brud tillhöra.
which will belong to his bride.

Hosianna!...
Hosanna!...



Ditt hjärta öppne sig,
Open up your heart,

bjud Kristus  hem till dig.
invite Christ to your house.

Han aktar          hos dig gästa
It is his pleasure to be your guest,

och dig för evigt fästa.
and to pledge himself to you for eternity.

Höj glädjerop till skyn
Cry for joy,  up to the sky,

vid denna glada syn:
when you behold this cheerful sight:

här kommer Sions förste,
here comes the prince of Sion;

bland konungar den störste.
among kings,   he is the greatest.

Strö palmer        på den stig,
Spread palm leaves on the path

där Herren        nalkas dig.
on which the Lord approaches you.

Lägg för hans fot din prydnad,
Place your gifts at his feet,

bekänn dig            till hans lydnad.
(and) commit yourself to obey him.
