A Shepherd in a Shade by John Dowland I am very fond of English madrigals from the Elizabethan era, especially by great masters like John Dowland. At the same time, however, I think the lyrics often are a little silly (rather like in some of our modern pop hits). So, this arrangement is intended to mirror that silliness; it may be sung in the same spirit, not taking the song too seriously, even if it is based on "old and venerable" music.
